Latest reviews of Color Monster - the game that lets kids learn the colors! app for iPhone and iPad

Fun, Fun, Fun!
What We Liked: I’m very interested in play-based learning, where interaction with a game (alone or with a parent) results in learning that doesn’t seem like learning at all! The motivation to learn is generated by the joy that playing the game brings, and Color Monster is a great example of this principle in action. While simple in concept, Color Monster excels in execution. The monster is cute, quirky, and well done; the food is physics enabled - your child can roll it, toss it, pick it up etc. Most importantly, my three-year-old loves Color Monster. She calls him, ‘my monster’ ‘my app’ ‘my game’ and plays with him just as though he was one of her favorite toys. Watching her is a delight, she giggles away and just has a blast feeding this guy! What We Didn’t Like: Sometimes the monster seems a bit harsh when he rejects the wrong color of fruit – but my kids just laugh at him – go figure. Even though this monster speaks many languages, sometimes he goes so quickly and in a funny voice (cartoonish) that it’s hard for young foreign language learners to really get the color name clearly from the rest of his speech. Some languages seem to be faster than others – the French and Spanish particularly. Overall: Color Monster teaches through matching, quizzes through feeding, and let’s kids have a blast while learning their colors. If there’s a more engaging, fun-filled way to learn the basic colors, we haven’t found it yet! Bye-bye boring color flashcard apps! I received a promo code.
Inappropriate attitude for a childrens app
The concept is great for kids but it would be much better if the creature did not get angry when the child chooses the wrong item. I dont think it appropriate for it to teach my child words like "disgusting".
Does not work
Bought this for my son thinking it sounded great. Problem is the sound does not work! Tried on my ipad3, ipad mini and iphone 5. All have no audio! Totally feel ripped off! Wish there was a way to get money back on a app that DOES NOT WORK!
The monster is truly hungry
... but please make it less agressive, my son was a bit confused when he picked the wrong fruit, because of the wacky game physics and now is not really interested in this app, hes even afraid of it :( The variety of languages suprise but please work over voices and the variety of colors. Im not discussing the price for the toddler apps are usually more expensive, but Im pretty sure this one will be on sale pretty soon.
Fun Fun Fun!
This colorful app is fun and educational! My 3 yr old LOVES it. A simple, effective app for reinforcement of color identification and a real winner in our home. It has great replay value! The illustrations are wonderful and the navigation is super child friendly. A BIG thank you to Wombi for another great app!
